Yes, under the industrial category you find so-called epoxy coatings. Painting the floor is an easy yet dramatic way to change the feel of a room.
Yes you can, but look at the technical data sheet with what product to dilute. Diluting a paint is only a good idea if the first paint layer is on a never painted surface. That way the paint can penetrate deeper in the surface and gives a better bond to the surface. On a surface which is already painted earlier, diluting makes a paint less powerful in hiding the surface. Which means that you might need an extra layer of paint to cover the original paintwork. So diluting does not always make sense.
This depends on the technology used in the paint. Wall paints are usually water based, so you can use water to clean your tools. Wood & metal paints are solvent based, so you can use a paint thinner or white spirit to clean your tools. When epoxy paint is involved, you need epoxy thinner to clean tools.
This depends on the total area in m2 which you are planning to paint. Also the structure of the surface has an influence. A surface which is never used before needs more paint than a surface which has been painted before. Also if your new color is quite opposite from the existing one has an influence. As an example, if you want to repaint a dark gray wall to cream, you need more paint then going from white to cream. To calculate the amount of needed paint, look into the technical data sheet on each product page. There is a coverage rate mentioned. That figure you can use as a starting point to calculate how much product you need.
Well, every product has its own drying time. And it’s quite risky to paint outside the building during the rainy season. If in case, you go ahead with the painting and it rains heavily, not allowing enough time for the paint to dry, you might have to face problems. Hence, we recommend you to observe the weather condition and then go ahead with painting.
Elmohandis Paints offers color combination books which help in selecting colors for home based on spaces & type of interior. One can also visit the nearest experience store in their city to meet a color expert who can give customized solutions. For inspiration look at our project pages, or hire an interior designer for an optimal result. Please also check this page which points out mistakes when choosing a color.
Using a primer will ensure full depth of color of your chosen paint color. A primer is vital to seal unpainted surfaces or prepare the surface for painting.
We recommend at least two layers, but it also depends on the surface itself. With a rough surface you need more layers to cover properly the surface.
Every product is different. Please refer to the technical datasheet you find on each product page.
We recommend leaving a fresh plaster skim for at least 2 weeks, as the plaster needs to be completely dry before applying paint.
For new, fully plastered walls, allow at least 2 months for the plaster to dry thoroughly.
Ceiling first, walls second, trim last. If the trim were painted first, splatter from the roller could end up on the freshly painted trim. Since time is of the essence in repaint work, there is not usually enough time between painting the trim and painting the wall to use masking tape on the freshly applied paint.
This is often called a feature or accent wall. While this could depend on the overall space, the wall that comes into view opposite the main entrance is in most cases selected as the feature wall and should be the one to receive the special treatment.
While every effort is made to ensure uniformity of color, the fact remains that paint products, tint products, and even tinting equipment, all operate within specified tolerance levels. This means that there is a possibility that cans of paint bought at different times may not match exactly. If and/or when you realize that you will not have enough paint to complete a full coat over the entire space, we recommend that you stop at a natural break, such as a corner, window or door opening. Then go purchase additional product. If you're painting the final coat and you anticipate that you may need to touch up some of the areas already coated, take some product from the original material and set it aside (be sure to label it so that you can identify which areas it was used on). Take the remainder of the original paint and mix it with the new product before continuing.
The general answer is yes. However, it is vital that the surface be properly prepared but sanding and degreasing.
Do a Thorough Visual Inspection and Preparation
Example: Any cracked, flaking or peeling areas need to be lightly sanded or scraped (and then thoroughly rinsed) before applying new primer and paint because the weight of the new coat will pull the old paint loose. Greasy spots may also need a bit of washing with soap, followed by a rinse with clean water. Otherwise, wipe down with a damp cloth so that paint will have a clean, dust-free surface to stick to.
Buy High-Quality Brushes, Roller Covers, and Painter's Tape
Example:
If you're splurging on great paint like Elmohandis Paint, you definitely don't want to pinch pennies on the application. Good brushes and roller covers give excellent coverage so that you don't waste time and paint on re-application, and painter's tape is the real deal when it comes to sealing out drips and blurs.
Protect Anything You Don't Want Painted
Example: You will never regret the time you spend covering floors, furniture and hardware before you begin a paint project. Drop cloths are a must and small plastic sandwich bags secured with tape are an easy way to protect doorknobs.
Remove Light Switch and Outlet Covers
Example: If you're impatient, you'll be tempted to skip this five-minute step, but don't.
Use primer on fresh never painted surfaces
Example: This gives a better result and even saves money
Let the Roller Do the Work
Example: Elmohandis Paints flow on easily, and you've already chosen a good roller cover (right?), so there's no need to use much pressure. Be sure to use an extension pole so you can reach the maximum amount of area with the least effort — and without straining your back.
Paint From Top to Bottom
Example:
After you've cut in your edges at the ceiling and baseboard using a brush, use your roller to apply paint from the ceiling downward. Amateurs often have telltale drips and spatters at the end of a paint job, but pros paint right over their mistakes as they work their way down the wall. Once an area starts to dry, it's best to leave it alone. Going back over it can leave marks and color streaks in the paint's surface.
- The brush should be cleaned immediately after use, before the paint has a chance to dry. Use a compatible solvent for solvent-based paints, and a warm detergent solution for latex-base paints. Do not clean natural bristle brushes with water; the water will cause the bristles to swell and become limp. Strong solvents like lacquer thinner may also damage brush bristles, and should not be used unless the brush is designed to be compatible with that solvent.
- The wet bristles should be brushed with a metal brush comb (a fork works well, too!) to keep the paint from collecting on the bristles, especially near the handle.
- If the brush is to be stored for long periods, it should be placed in the pouch supplied with the brush or wrapped in foil or heavy paper, with the bristles smooth and flat.
- The brush should always be stored flat or suspended from a nail or hook; make sure that the bristles are straight and that the brush is not resting on the bristles.
- Brushes should not be allowed to stand on end in either paint or water.
- Brushes should not be allowed to soak in water. It will damage the filaments and/or the epoxy setting, and cause the ferrule to rust.
Rollers should be cleaned immediately after every use, by first removing excess paint by rolling or pressing on a newspaper, then washing in the proper solvent or water. They can then be dried and wrapped for storage.
There are several key things to look for when choosing a painting contractor. At the very least, check to see if they are l experienced and capable of completing work. Ask them to show them their work at other customers and check if you would be pleased with that. Elmohandis Paints has also it’s own Painters Academy. When the painters have a certificate thereof, then you know they have experience with our paint.
